Located on the Northern part of the Baja Peninsula, Rocky Point, or Puerto Peñasco, as the locals call it, is one of the best beach destinations for guests visiting from the US and Canada.
Approximately 3 hours away from Tucson, 3.5 hours away from Phoenix, 6 hours away from California, 7 hours away from Nevada and about 8 hours away from New Mexico driving to Rocky Point can be a very pleasant experience and a great destination to meet friends and family.
DRIVING FROM PHOENIX
1. Start on I-10 West towards Los Angeles (~31 miles)
2. Take exit 112 and merge onto AZ-85 South toward I-8/YUMA/SAN DIEGO (~37 miles)
3. At Gila Bend, turn RIGHT at the McDonald’s onto AZ-85 toward Ajo/Lukeville/ Mexico (~80 miles)
4. Cross the U.S./Mexico border at Lukeville/Sonoyta
5. Follow Puerto Peñasco signs towards Highway 8 South (~5 miles)
6. Take Highway 8 South towards Puerto Peñasco or Rocky Point (~45 miles)
7. Turn left towards Caborca/Mayan Palace (Vidanta) at a circular fork in the road. Take the Road to Caborca (~15 miles)
8. Turn Right into the Mayan Resorts Master Plan entrance (Vidanta), mention your destination to the security guard.
9. If going to Encanto or Luna Blanca continue straight until you cross a bridge, then turn left. Signs mentioning either one will get you to your destination. If going to the Mayan Palace Resort or Grand Mayan (Vidanta) turn right.
10. You will encounter another security guard as you approach the buildings, simply state where you are going and he will let you through.
11. Our office is located in the entrance of both buildings.Please park by the office and enter to check in.If you arrive after hours let us know to give you specific instructions.
12. If the Caborca turn mentioned above in number 7 is missed, simply continue south into the town of Puerto Peñasco and go east on Blvd. Freemont also called Ignacio Allende (traffic light). This will be a longer drive but it is the most direct route in and out of town while staying at your vacation rental.
DRIVING FROM TUCSON
1. Start on State HWY 86 and continue through the cities of Sells and Quijotoa.
2. Turn left onto State Highway 85 South and continue until you reach Lukeville, AZ along the Mexican border.
3. Cross the U.S./Mexico border at Lukeville/Sonoyta

2. Take highway 2, drive through San Luis Rio Colorado. This Hwy will take you to Sonoyta.
