Plan Your Trip

Rocky Point is a popular destination that is easily accessible by car from Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California. You can also fly into Phoenix or Tucson and then rent a car or take a shuttle.

Depending on your starting point, your drive will be from three to six hours. We suggest that you travel during daylight so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. After you cross into Mexico, it is about 60 miles to the sun, sea, and fun of Rocky Point. For directions and suggested routes, check here.

We encourage you to bring water and snacks for the trip, but there are places and rest stops along the way where you can grab a meal or get gas. In Arizona, Gila Bend and the border towns of Lukeville and Ajo are good stopping points where you can also buy last-minute items.

CROSSING INTO MEXICO

The border is closed from midnight to 6 a.m.

Border crossings are generally quick and simple. At times, the border guards may search your car. If you are bringing any high-value items into Mexico, it is important that you declare them to avoid any penalties.

MEXICAN CAR INSURANCE

If you are entering Mexico by car, you will need to purchase Mexican car insurance. There are many alternatives available, here is one of them. Click here to buy.

CROSSING INTO THE US

Border crossing into the U.S. is very strict. Adults will need a passport and minors will require either a passport or birth certificate to enter the country. There will be several U.S. checkpoints along the route.
